Sometimes all it takes is for an office to rework its entire design philosophy is a single opportunity. Westside Family Law, a firm located in Vancouver’s South Granville neighborhood, had one such opportunity present itself when another office in their building opened up — one with a dramatic view of the North Shore mountains. The challenge laid in creating a space that complemented the firm’s gorgeous new vista.

Creating an eye-catching space to match the view

Aura’s decisions started out with the most logical move: make sure as much of the office as possible had sightlines to the mountains. That meant maximizing usage of glass walls to create partitions that still preserved the view while maintaining confidentiality and privacy between rooms. More aesthetic decisions came to light in a decision to balance both warm and cold tones and materials, upholding a visual harmony and making the new space’s clean lines feel both orderly and reassuring.
